Summary: Cape Ann Art Haven of Gloucester is seeking a full time Executive Director to carry out the organization’s mission to provide cost-effective access to creative arts for residents of all ages and abilities on Cape Ann. The Executive Director will oversee program operations, fiscal management and interactions with donors, the community and other nonprofits.
The Executive Director will supervise operations at Art Haven, a center where children develop creativity and confidence through hands-on learning and collaboration; The Hive, a dynamic community art space for teens and adults and Teen Artists Guild (TAG), where teens are mentored and trained to become successful working artists. Founded in 2008, Art Haven, The Hive and TAG occupy approximately 6,000 sq. ft. of studio and office space in Gloucester, a vibrant arts community.
Bachelors Degree, in a relevant field including education, business or the arts 8+ years of relevant management experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting Demonstrated administrative and human resource management skills Ability to communicate the organization’s mission and vision to a variety of stakeholders in the community and to key donors/funders Passion for providing access to the arts for all people regardless of their talent, age or ability to pay Ability to raise funding and mange financial affairs Ability to collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop a strategic plan and annual budgets and objectives
Full Job Description: Art Haven Executive Director
Operations at Art Haven, The Hive and Teen Artists Guild (TAG)
Develop and implement strategies, along with the Board of Directors and Program Coordinator, to fulfill the organization’s mission to provide cost-effective access to creative arts for residents of Cape Ann of all ages and abilities. Create and oversee annual operating plans for all programming for Art Haven, The Hive and TAG. Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence by creating and maintaining effective systems to track impact, and regularly evaluate program components so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the Board, funders and the community. Maximize and maintain the use of both buildings. Financial Viability
Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan from public and private funding sources, including grant writing and corporate support. Expand local revenue generating and fundraising activities. Prepare the annual operating budget for Board approval and quarterly forecasts. Oversee financial operations and accounting; supervise the annual audit. Staff Development and Management
Prepare job descriptions and hiring plans for key staff. Develop and oversee effective onboarding procedure. Maintain a climate which attracts, retains and motivates a diverse staff of quality people. Develop and manage an annual staffing plan, including volunteers, based on the budget and objectives; develop written objectives for all key reports and complete annual reviews in a timely fashion. Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations affecting employees and employers. External Relations
Represent the organization and its mission to the public, the media, partners, donors, government and other organizations. Form cooperative and collaborative working relationships with local organizations. Develop, implement and/or oversee communications, website content, social media, donor newsletters and appeals, grant proposals and reports, direct mail, press releases, annual reports and other marketing material. Develop, maintain and support a strong Board of Directors; determine meeting agendas in collaboration with the President; identify new members; develop annual objectives for Board approval; lead an annual strategic planning session. Job Type: Full-time
